Paying for college?

I've come to the point in college that I need to take out a loan or find money somewhere. I have 2 jobs and go to school full time so my grades aren't all great.. they're enough to pass and the 2 jobs pay for rent and the bills that come with living on your own. I'm not sure where to start looking... i've applied to hundreds of fastweb.com scholarships with no avail and the financial aid office at my school won't even talk to me because i haven't filled out FAFSA, ever and the date for spring '08 financial aid for FAFSA has passed... any suggestions would help.

You still need to complete the FAFSA. Even though your school's spring priority deadline may have passed, you can complete/submit the FAFSA for 0708 up until June 30, 2008. If you need to take out a loan, you would need to complete the FAFSA in order to get a Stafford Loan. You would want to try and do a Stafford Loan before considering any private loans.

More information on loans can be found at www.finaid.org/loans.

If you are not getting that much help from a financial aid officer at your school, request to speak to an Associate/Assisant Director of financial aid. Good luck!

I don't know if all schools have this, but my school has a scholarship foundation. You just fill out one form, submit it to your school's scholarship foundation, and then the foundation uses your form to see which of the school's scholarships you are eligible for. Afterwards, the foundation will contact you by a deadline that they have to tell you what you've won. I've also heard other schools holding ceremonies, and you have to be present at the ceremony to be granted the scholarship.
