Want to move to London, I carry a residency card from EU State and my husband is EU Citizen...?

We want to relocate to London, we have saved enough, plan about where to rent a flat and jobs.
In my case being from a third country national but carrying a valid Residency Card, can I settle in the UK? my husband is a EU citizen from a Schengen state. He can travel and settle in any other member state, but what about me?

Can anyone tell me where to go or find out any of this legal matters? we will be in London soon and would like to know which office(s) to go and get information.

I will appreciate the help.

We both speak 3 languages, live in Denmark and prefer another country than this one. It s boring as hell here, expensive and it is simply not for us.

Depends where you are from there are quotas. Things are starting to turn really nasty now against eastern europeans driving the wages down. So are you sure its London you want whats wrong with where you are? Or am I right in thinking this is a language thing. That you both move to London as you dont speak your partners language.

Go to the immigration office you will find the address online and on the embassy website of the country you reside in. There pretty informative plus you can go visit in person they will give you a lot of information before you leave. As you could find yourself kicked out of the UK. Immigration is a really hot subject now in the UK and they are having to show that they are kicking people out so be careful to have your papers in order.

You need to go to the Home Office website for immigration regulations. A Schengen visa is not valid in the UK because UK did not sign the Schengen agreement.

You'll need to apply for a resident visa as a spouse of an EU national. Normally they give 2 years leave to remain and towards the end of the 2nd year, you need to take a test on knowledge of life in the UK and apply for indefinite leave to remain.

EU resident should be fine to live an dwork in london - check with the Home Office http://www.homeoffice.gov.uk for other immigration matters

You will have a great time in London - its a great place
