When I sublease an apt. am I completely free from of any finances? |
I subleased my apartment to someone else (all proper paperwork was filled out with leasing office) and the person subleasing my room is leaving 1 month before the lease expires. My old roommate has been calling and I believe she is wanting me to pay the last month of rent even though she is subleasing I subleased to someone else all the proper paperwork has been filled out. Since I subleased to her, am I completely off the lease and free from any potential finances owed after my name was signed off the lease? the answer is... You are still responsible for the original lease. The apartments are nice enough to allow you to sublease to cover some or all of the rent you owe when you aren't living there, but it still comes down to you being the one the apartment leasing office will be coming after if the rent isn't paid. |
