Apartment w/o ssn?

My friend has no ssn
he is living w/ me and my other friend
the apartment office told me that each of us MUST fill out an application (rental) which requires SSN (Social security number)

do you know if there's anyway he can live w/ us?

can he live in the apt w/o signing the lease if my other roommate and I pay the rent?

Valid social security card are free, illegal one cost from $10-$50.
All people living in an apartment over the age of eighteen must have proper ID and have their names on the rental agreement. If everybody move out and leave your friend he would be liable for all remaining charges.

The reason for a social security number is to verify that he is not wanted by the police or has a bad credit record.

Would you want to live in a building were someone was hiding out from the police? Is your friend legal to be in the US? How does he support himself without a job or income? You have to have a SS# to go to school or work on a job?

Ummmm, why does he not have a social security number?
I would say this is more of a concern. Have him apply for one, and if he is an illegal alien, have him apply for amnesty. Believe me, if he doesn't, they will find him (and they should).

Good luck with that.
