How can I get financial aid if my parents are filthy rich?

Both my parents are Doctors! And they wont pay a single penny for my education. I'm living at home with them and I don't qualify for any student loans because of their big income and I just got rejected for work study because it asked if I was living on my own and I had to say the truth and say NO, and then they asked what I was paying in rent and I said $0 cause that's the truth, and then they asked the income of my 'rents and then I got a response right away saying no way.
I already am working 2 jobs- part-time at a cafe, and also at the admissions office as a secretary. I need another job ASAP to help me get through next semester.
What should I do??

they are not paying for my education because I am majoring in what they call a "BOGUS" degree....Dance

Move out! Live on your own. Be responsible for yourself. You can do it! Many people have funded their own living expenses and education. You can too.

Best wishes and good luck.

I'm in the same position, you move out! Or just borrow a friends address and say that you living there - but that is fraud, so the best thing to do is just find a friend and move in with them!

try to get your own place and establish legally that you are independent from your parents.

You might have to take out a student loan.

go hug a tree......

What did you do to them naughty girl?!

Don't tell them you live with your parents. People do it all the time. Besides, they help people out who are on welfare and stuff. Claim to be head of household.

You can try freelance writing, bookkeeping, software, transcription or customer service work at home jobs. These companies do not require any fee and pay well . List of companies(with websites) offering genuine work at home jobs is available at http://www.pcworkathome.net . Many of these companies have been in business for several years

emancipate yourself. See a lawyer about how it would be done. Check to see if you can get financial aid before you take this step, however, and also see if you can continue to live at home, but I doubt it.

If you work just make sure that you claim yourself as a dependent person on your taxes. Also make sure that they are not claiming you and if they are then I think that you have a problem.

Find where mommy and daddy stash the cash

I understand parents not feeling obligated to pay college tuition, but dag! That's worst then being poor and parents not able to send you college. You might as well move out and then claim as independent so you can get financial aid.

first of all i think it is selfish of your parents to to not help even pay for ur edcuation bchuz i mean the only way u're going to have a good future is education and college and all that stuff , but some jobs you can do is as a postman or post woman because even when u're just a starter you get paid around $19 to 25 dollars per hour, hope this helped

That really sucks that your parents are not helping you with your college... Get the heck out of there.
This is very sad.... BUT,,,, there are lots of grants that you can put in for and when yo do, use a friend's address.
So what, just do it. You deserve to have an education because you truely want one .... Your parents need to have an education on helping their kids....

Do they claim you as a dependent on taxes? As long as they do, you are probably effed.

Doctors aren't exactly filthy rich, I mean, even most athletes aren't FILTHY rich. Now, business people, they are filthy rich.

There are a couple of things you can do. First of all, you are eligible for loans, regardless of your parents' income. That means that you will be paying for your own education, but at least you can go.

Secondly, if you do really well, you can keep your eyes open for any scholarships or other awards which may come up.

Thirdly, at some schools, if you get married, you can change your status for financial aid. Moving out alone won't do it, because they will still assume that your parents are responsible for helping you, but I was just talking to someone yesterday who said that when she got married, one of the reasons she transferred to our university was that the financial aid office would reconsider her financial aid status, while her husband's university across town would not.

if your working part time then i would be going out and looking for a Flatt to live in . nothing expensive and nothing big just enough room for you.show your parents you can be on your own and take care of your self with out them helping you out... you may need to save enough for a deposit on a Flatt but once you have established your self paying the electric bill and water bill and a phone bill by your self then apply for assistance then you will get what you need for college...
your parents are right in a sense making you pay your own way. this will make you a stronger person all around and teach you that not everything is given to you on a silver platter. I'm sure their parents didn't pay their way Thur college and if they did then they have learned from their mistakes and don't want to make them again with you. remember this is a learning experience and it will be passed along to the next generation of kids, Yours... i hope. this will strengthen the strain and make them more independent and able to take care of them selves...
cheers
hope all goes OK with you.
Jo

apart from moving out and getting you own place with a friend, and keep working. but your parents should be helping with your education that what parents meant to do, so there kids get the job and education they need. all the best i hope they help you.

It's a wonder your parents allow you to live with them. You must be 'special'.
If your parents are truly well-off and could afford it you ought to insist on their advice.

Good luck.
