My mother is impossible? unbearable?

I currently live above my mother in her 3 family home with my fiance. We are unable to relocate at the moment, and pay her rent. She is IMPOSSIBLE. She has serious mental problems and goes to sleep at 10:30. She "hears" us WALKING around the apartment because of the wood floors and wakes up constantly, and comes banging on our door.

Shes on all sorts of medication, and in addition, I have to work with her during the week (my dads office is the only place that gives me good benefits, salary, and is flexible with my school schedule - she works there as well.) so i really can't catch a break.

The second I am able to, I will move far far away - until then, what can I do?

Please don't suggest talking to her. We've tried, I've tried, my entire life, and whether it's intentional or not, she is unwilling to consider that she is all or even PART of the problem.

there isnt a thing you can do ... i am sorry.... i have a iffy relationship with my mother too... (and i also work with her)....
i have tryed since i was young to get away from her but somehow it never works out ... although my brothers seemed to have managed it!...lol oh well... just as i get older i try to ignore her "ways"....sometimes its hard ... but at least i do live away from her with my children and husband... but its hard and i think it probably always will be.....just breathe..... and work hard to get your own place!...lol... where you can interact on your terms!... good luck!!!!

Sounds like my mom. There is nothing you can do. As the saying my grandmother uses you can't have two queens in a castle. My mother and I get along now,....... That I moved out years ago! Sad to say but there is no solution, until you get out. Maybe ask your dad for help.

Say thank you to her and appreciate what both of your parents do. Your mom puts a roof over your head and that of your boy friend and your dad employs you. I would be grateful

i think you should be more aptient and try to move as fast as you can from there

1.Ignore the problems.....until you move....what other choices do you have live and work together.....

2.Try to keep busy....limiting your time home.

3. Switch units with her....so she lives on the top unit and hears nothing....better view....:O)

I have a mother JUST like that, although I do not live with her- THANK GOD. From experience, I just nod my head and agree with everything she says and apologize profusely. The more you let it bother you, the more it is going to bother you.
A fruitcake is a fruitcake is a fruitcake and no amount of medication or therapy or talking to the fruitcake will make it change into a banana bread (or whatever else is pleasant to you).
You're in a tough situation- tell the fiance to get a second job (and you, too) and bust your *** to get away from her as soon as possible.

u just have to find a job! Thats all , and move to the another place. Its not clear for me , does your fiance working? How he can accept to live with your not normal mother?? AND , how she can ask you to pay for rent?? Are u sure is she your REAL MOTHER??

well talking may not help ! your only hope is to get out of their as soon as possible !!
or maybe you could try talking !! i mean tell her that you cant go to bed at 10:30 u have a lot of work pending from school and all which will keep you awake most nights and that she should be more considerate !
or ask her if she would like to stay on the first floor rather than on the ground floor !(if u can u cud exhcnage flats )
be more patient with her !
