My apartment is said my dog needs fix before move in but my dog is so old that she can't?

What am I to do. I already paid the 1,000 un-refundable deposit for the apartment. And with the 400 I make weekly it was hard just to save up for the deposit even though the rent will be only 399. How can I leave my dog, I can't :( What should I do? The rental office said they we're already discouraged with me.

Call your local apartmet association, they are in violation of a tenants rights....they cannot tell you when to have your fixed.

do what the answer under me says....but WHY didn't you clear things up with the dog before leaving a $1000 deposit?

i'd try getting a medical letter from your doctor saying that you need your animal to live with you (for some medical reason, like depression, or something like that).... then they can't make u get your dog fixed. it would violate YOUR rights. hehe

if they still want to be ugly about it, you could get a letter from your vet saying your dog is too old to go under for the operation.

Get a note from your vet saying the surgery would probably kill a dog that age. Does she still go in heat? If so buy those doggie diapers for her. If she is well trained and housebroken, I don't see that it should be a problem. As a female there is usually no way to tell if she is spayed or not by just looking at her. Explain to your apartment manager that the dog is past the age of bearing puppies.

She has to be fixed, as a requirement? I suppose I understand that. Of course, they're probably focusing on more that they don't want blood spots on their carpet when your dog goes into heat.

Perhaps you could get a note from a vet stating that it would be too risky to spay her at the age she is. That might help your rental office to understand that you're not trying to break the regulations, but you just cannot risk her life for a spay surgery. Now, if the vet says your dog is perfectly healthy and can go through a spay surgery without complications....then you really don't have much workin' for you.

A dog at that age should not be going under with anesthetic to get this procedure done. I would just let the people know that you would like your deposit back and look for another apartment. Get a note from the vet recommending that the dog not go under at that age for medical reasoning and that they will not preform this procedure and maybe you can get out of it. Let them be discouraged. You are more concerned with your dogs health.

So you go to the vet and get him to write you a note saying how old she is and that surgery would kill her. Otherwise you lose your $1000 deposit.. You can't dump your dog cause you make a mistake...

Leave your dog where? Not an option. Ask you vet to say she is so old that she does not need to be fixed, she is already is fixed by being so old.

Did they tell you this before or after you paid them the money? If they didn't tell you this up front then they need to refund your money and you need to go somewhere else. If you knew this was part of the deal then you shouldn't have agreed to it.

Dottie, did you take your dog to meet the apartment manager yet? If your dog is as old as you say, a reasonable person will be able to ascertain that your baby will be unable to reproduce. However, without being fixed a dog may have a tendency to 鈥渕ark鈥?its territory, although, I鈥檓 unsure if that subsides with age. If I were you, I鈥檇 bring the dog to meet the manager. If that doesn鈥檛 work, I鈥檇 research your legal options with regards to your deposit; that鈥檚 a significant amount of money. AND I would not leave my baby for a million bucks! Good Luck!!!!
