My apartment maintenance staff hasnt fixed my plumbing and i need to know what I can do about it? |
Last thursday my girlfriend went to the rental office to file a complaint about our garbage disposal not working. And by not working I mean nothing at all is right under my sink. The overflow line from the garbage disposal to the sink has completely fallen off. And I'm getting no power at all to the disposal. It made that powering down noise it makes when it is jammed but I took it apart and there is nothing inside. I can not wash my dishes in the sink or use my disposal at all. I know how to fix the connection but I am absolutely sure the garbage disposal needs replaced. But seeing that I am paying my apartment to fix these problems with part of the money i give them for rent I don't want to buy a new disposal or fix anything. Unless I get compensated for my time and money. what are my options here? go complain complain again and again, tell them thats part of the rent so do there job, sue them Look up tenants rights for your state and county, all rental property's are bound by law to provide necessary and needed repairs to there rental property's, and to provide routine and periodic maintenance to some items as required, you can also es grow your rent after a specified length of time, again research tenants rights because it does vary depending where you live, another option is call the health department and report it, drain water poses some serious health risks because of bacteria, but you have to give them a chance to repair it first, option two is, call a licensed plumber and have it repaired and seek reimbursement through the proper legal channels, but again only after you have given them reasonable opportunity to repair it, option three, find a new place of residence. in most areas of the country the renter has to give notice to the landlord that something is wrong, if the landlord doesn't fix it within a reasonable amount of time you can hire a plumber to fix it and deduct that amount from your next months rent. you have to send the receipt with your payment. you have to give enough time for them to do the repairs, i would not fix it myself, because that could leave you liable down the road. |

To be honest most of us americans are pretty stupid and we wouldnt even know how to go about getting out leader our of office and those what do have other things they have to do besides being a rev... Many companies do manufacture while the patent for an item is pending, which is why you see "Patent Pending" on any number of products. And, while the above posters are correct that there... Because sky have a monopoly of sorts and are very greedy, they also price everybody else (spors in particular) out of the market and they have to get the money back. ... |
