Can you live in a fully furnished office?

I am 21 years old, and I am looking at leasing a good sized shop in Dallas, TX that is a GREAT deal, to work on cars and try to prototype some parts. (I already have the tools in storage)

But this place is climate controlled (dual ac and heat) has two offices a full working kitchen, oven, fridge washer drier, bathtub/shower, and toilet. for less than any of my friends are spending on apartments.

And its still has room for nearly 7 cars!!!

I think even though it is a commercial property I could live there without anyone knowing or causing any problems. Just lock all my stuff in the second office.

IN FACT the guy in the unit next to the one I want had a contractor build a loft over the offices and he made a bedroom up there!!! (but I don't know if he actually lives in it or just makes movies there ;-)

So could I do it? What kind of trouble would I get in?

In some zones you can do anything allowed in that zone or lower-rated zones, and in others, not. You can use the link I have given you below, and you might be able to figure it out for yourself, but if not, then just call (214) 948-4480 and ask them if it is allowed at that address. You should be able to do that without giving your name and perhaps without even giving the exact address. Just explain that you want to see if it would be OK in that area.

The trouble you could get into is usually fines and of course having to move. Also your lease probably prohibits it yet locks you into paying.

So it's worth checking out.

Many cities have "live-work" ordinances for just this purpose, so you may be lucky.

OFF COURCE!!!!!!!! as long as it has a tv and a vending machine

I don't see why not...be careful though, it might be against the law

lots of people do this
go for it
my husband built a pilot we know a house inside his airplane hanger
