Should I go check up on my apartment application?

I applied for an apartment two days ago, I faxed my application. it's an immediate occupancy apartment. We are in love with it and it's needed, we have 6 days to find a place before we are homeless.

[we had an apartment lined up, the girl decided to stay three days ago so now our lease is up in 6 days and we have no place to move to]

My girlfriend is anxious, [she's 20 weeks pregnant and is freaking out about being homeless] as am I. We've called, but the woman we need to speak with wasn't in - we just got the machine - we've left messages but no call back.

Should I go to the office? Resubmit my application by paper? Leave it till Monday? Keep calling? I just keep getting the machine.

We really need this apartment..=/
So we need to know if something is wrong in our application so we can fix it.

Did they tell you how long it would take to process your application? It usually takes at least two days or so to check your credit and references. If you've already left messages, wait another day for the return phone call. If you don't hear anything by Monday, then call again or go by the office. If the woman you need to speak with isn't there, ask if there is someone else who can tell you the status of your application. If there is nothing weird about your financial and work situation, and there weren't multiple applications for the same apartment, I think you'll be fine. In the meanwhile, you should consider having a back up plan if this apartment doesn't come through in time. Good luck!

Oh my gosh, I know how you feel. My husband, son (2 yrs old at the time) and I went through the same thing. Over a hundred dollars in app fees and waiting and waiting to hear word. We ended up maxing out a credit card by staying in a hotel for a week since we had given up our lease with our previous apt only for the deal to go bust.

Don't sit on things. Go to the office. We got the apartment we have now because we kept calling until we heard what we wanted. What we finally ended up doing was driving to the rental office with cash in hand. Money talks so if you have it, the full amount for deposit and first month. Bring it.

We lost an apt because we were a few hours late (someone had show up with THEIR money)

There are ways to tweak your application too. If you've had your job less than a year, put down one of your family members cell phone and tell them to pretend to be one of your supervisors LOL there are other ways to do your apps to maximize your chances too, just be creative.

I wish you and your mom-to-be girlfriend the best of luck.

Remember, DON'T WAIT. Be persistent via call or going to the rental office because if not you, someone else more persistent will probably get the apartment.

Good luck.
