Bad reporting?

so my husband and i were on a 9month lease but he got orders that he has to leave in may for iraq but the lease is in his name...he gave the renting office the paperwork that he has to get out of the lease but now their saying that they are going to give him a bad report..can they do this? and why he is leaving to fight for our country why would they be so messed up?

Sounds like a job for your Congress representatve.

Just google your state and landlord/tenant laws.....there is a provision specific to military.....you get to move out....barring any property damage you get your deposit back......and best of all......they report erroneous information on your credit.....you get to claim damages in small claims....

So, follow up w/ a formal letter to them....Cite the statute and thank them for the understanding and prompt attention to your deposit....also schedule your exit walk thru....

Document, document, document....and remember you have rights and remedies, but you have to exercise them...Small Claims may sound intimidating, but it's there for you sans an attorney...

They would like him to pay them some money to give him a good report.

It really is that simple. His contract provides for him to pay some money, he wants out of that contract, and the norm is that when we want out of a contract we offer to pay something to get out of it.

Go in person and talk to them. Be nice. Explain.

If they aren't willing to work it out with you, then go to the media.
