My Friend Needs Foodstamps???

My Friend Lives In The House With His Mom, He Lives In The Basement. She Makes Him Pay Her 250 Dollars A Month, He Recently Got Laid Off From Work, And Now He Cant Find Another Job. I Took Him To The foodstamp Office, Because He Hasn't been Able To Afford Food For The past Month, I've Been Buying Him Supper Every Night And it's Really Breaking Me/ They Told Him That he Couldn't Be Approved Because He Lived At His Mom's House And He Was Only 19, But If We Take Their "Lease Agreement" Do You Thing It Would Be Enough For Him To Get Something. He's Really Trying To Find A Job, But It's Just Taking Some time. The Other Problem Is His Sister, Who Also Lives In The House, Does Get Foodstamps, And She Uses His Address So She Can Get Them. But Since He Pays Shouldn't He Be Able To Recieve Them.

It doesn't matter, you have to be 22 to get them if you are living with a parent. I know because I tried and got denied for the same reason. Now that I am over 22 I am on food stamps.

You may wanna call the social service by where you live and gather all the information. Ask his sister to give you a phone where she gets food stamps from.

Good luck

When you apply for help you need to prove all expenses so yes take in the rental agreement I have never heard of the age thing but every state is different here they would put him in a program to help him find a job even education if needed also if the rent agreement has his address on it it will be up to his sister to prove her place of residence and him to prove she doesn't live with him if it ever comes up
