Someone has recently been stealing my mail. What can I do?

I live in an apartment complex and it seems that every time I receive a package or large piece of mail it disappears. It is always when the package/large object can not be put in my mail box due to size. Delivery confirmation shows it has been delivered but it is nowhere to be found. According to the leasing office they do not have my packages so it is obvious that it is being stolen. I have ruled out the USPS, FedEx, and UPS delivery guys because it happens with all three carriers. What can I do to stop the mail theft? So far I have lost an AT&T phone, Christmas gifts that were sent to me, and several other things. Any suggestions would be much appreciated. Thank you.

I will add that recently the manager just sort of suddenly "disappeared". Haven't been expecting to receive anything since to test it. I have thought of sending myself something though and seeing what happened. Shortly after my Christmas stuff disappeared I was opening my mail down in the mail area when the manager walked behind me and asked "no checks?" That kind of makes me think it was him. Shortly after that he disappeared. Found out that he was probably fired considering I saw his job on Careerbuilder and no one has been in the leasing office since.

maybe you can have them deliver it to the manager's office and you can pick it up from there. other than that i can't think of a way to prevent things from getting stolen like that.

Have your stuff sent to your job.

why dont you send in a package wait somewhere and video tape if you see someone steal it obviously they are waiting for you to get something if you catch someone you can blame them for all the thefts.

it's difficult to catch the culprit without video surveillance or a whiteness.

best thing to do it have packages sent to a location that can keep them for you-like the rental office, friends house or your work location.

or have friends send things where you have to sign to receive them.

speak to your uspo post master and see if they can have someone investigate it.
you can also file a police report for the theft of the items if you have the delivery conformation proof.

i like the idea of sending your self something and when it's taken--- have a big sign in a box that says- did you really think you could keep stealing and not get caught
?!?!?!
then keep an eye in the dumpster for the box bcse i'm sure they will toss it straight away- keep it for fingerprinting

It may be inconvenient, but you can tell the sender to send it to a trusted friend or family members' home, or you can tell the post office to keep the large packages and pick them up yourself. OR, you can ask the sender to require a signature confirmation.

If you want your packages, you may need to take those extra steps.

Have packages sent to a trusted friend or relative in the area rather than your home, OR have the packages sent to your place of employment, if your employer has no issues with that, that is. My work has no problems with us doing that. We are just required to let the shipping dept know if there is an expected package coming for us that's personal so they expect it.

The hard part is, you live in an apt complex. Though many are "secured", it's usually fairly easy for anyone to get inside the buildings. If the packages are left outside, it's an even bigger risk. Especially at Christmas time, there are people who will follow the UPS, FEDEX, and DHL carriers and walk up and take packages that they see dropped off at peoples homes. This, sadly, is a very common occurrence.

First, you should report these thefts to the Postmaster. The USPS has an Inspector that frown heavily on stealing the US Mail and they may investigate.

Second, for packages, you can send them to your work or to a trust friend or relative.
