I cannot get in contact with my old land-lady...?

I am trying to move to a new apt and I am not sure what to put on my application for previous tenancy. I had an apt on my own, I was a pretty good tenant, but unfortunately had to break the lease once I became too sick to work. It was the one & only apt in my name, I moved back in with my family and got myself back together financially & healthwise. I applied for one apt, but the renter could not reach my old land lady! I have tried calling her, writing her and going to her office (I can only go to her office on the weekends due to distance) and it was closed (didn't look abandoned) I even tried leaving a note on the door of my old neighbor who rents the house in front. No luck. I would hate to lie on an application, but I am running out of options. I checked my credit to see if there was ever an inquiry from my old land lord and there wasn't. Should I just lie and say I never lived there? That it was an ex-boyfriend's place and I put the utilities in my name to help him out?

Help

just don't mention it

and if for some reason someone asks

say you did not put it on because no one could get in touch with the land-lady so it made no sense in putting it on

i do not know

Just don't mention it at all. I seriously doubt it will come up.

I had the same problem with the apartment I am moving into now. I just put the info I did know and told them that the landlord had been in the process of moving his business when I left and I didn't keep tabs on him after I moved. The new landlady was like, oh, thats fine, it happens.
