Bathroom flooded have of my apartment what should the leasing office do about? |
water is all over my bathroom and bedroom and when i caled the emer. number that plummer guy said that i will have to pay for the water damage....what should the leasing apartment do about it YOU DO NOT PAY FOR THE DAMAGE , YOU RENT SOTHE COMPLEX IS RESPONSIB;LE. RAISE YOUR VOICE OR YOU WILL BE SITTING IN MOLD SOON! The leasing management of some apartments will come in, clean up the mess, because they are protecting their investment. If it is a problem caused by faulty plumbing, then there should be no cost. If it is your fault, then some apartments do charge you for the clean up. If it is their fault, you informed them of the situation and they don't do anything about it, then whatever state you live in may have a tenant's rights association that you can call to complain or go to your secretary of state and report the business. If it is your fault, ask if you can pay the damage fees on a monthly basis until it is paid off. Also, ask for a copy of the bill. Don't just pay any amount. Good Luck! YOU SHOULDN'T HAVE TO PAY FOR THAT!!!!! Read your lease. Were you responsible for the damage? Did you leave the water running etc? If a pipe broke or it was something else outside your control I would find it hard to believe you would ahve to pay for damages to the apartment. Do you have renters insurance? You may be responsible for paying for the damage to your personal property, things like yourn furniture, clothing etc. Good Luck! Read your lease agreement before you make any decision. Look for the section under "damage". Last year my apt flooded the day of my birthday none the less...the couple above me toilet over flowed water damage in my closet and my bedroom, clothing...school supplies...furniture ruined. my apt complex did nothing but fix the celing and pant over it...why? didn't have renters insurance! but as far as major problems they are required to fix any inconvience to u wont be covered |
