Do I have to pay the balance(apartment rental fee )?

I am an international student.
When I first wrote a contract with Apartment lease office, they asked me to pay seven month rental fee in advance because I had no credit in the USA. Instead, they suggested some discounts to me. I accepted their offer. But after moving, they asked me to pay more because of balance. I don't understand where the balance came from. Because they even wrote it on the paper that I paid everything. When I visited lease office, they showed me a new calculation they made without me. They told me that the paper I had was the old one. When I contracted, they calculated repeatedly and gave me discounts.I paid the amount of money on the contract exactly. Nowadays, however, they asked me to pay the balance. Do I have to pay?

I contracted 7months and a half . And I paid all the money on the contract. I have the contract paper with signatures.Tthey warned me to pay more. Otherwise, they say that they will charge late fee. I don't understand. Is the rental contract paper changed by the lease office without a resident in this country?

I would imagine that they are trying to take advantage of you. If you have a receipt where they state what you were supposed to pay and it's paid, then that's what you should have to pay. They can't change the terms of the lease. Did you sign a contract for that amount? If not, and it was verbal, then you're on less stable ground. If you signed a lease, then they are in the wrong. If you want to live there you may have to pay the extra and dispute it afterwards. There should be some government agency that oversees the housing there. If you didn't sign a lease, you may want to go and look for another place to live, as these people seem a bit shady.

I would call a lawyer and ask them. Is sounds a bit fishy.

if you have a contract that you both signed saying that you are paid in full then you should not have to pay anything more. But the important thing is that your contract says how long you paid for - if it says you are paid in full for 7 months then you do not have to pay anything else until that 7 months is over.

First off, hold on tight to the paper you have from them with the original price. If you moved out early, most complexes will make you pay back the amounts they discounted you, however if you full filled the contract you had I would say that you have no obligation to pay any additional money, Check out Renters Advocacy groups in your city/state and see if they can help as well.

you say you paid 7 months in advance - how many months was the lease for? 7? 12? - if it was 7, it sounds like you should be paid in full. If it was more than 7, then you may owe for the remaining months - depends on the exact wording on the lease
