Should I believe him about this job offering?

I work as a general receptionist in an office building, I lease out offices in the building and answer the phones and take care of general needs of the tenants. One of my tenants usually asks more of me than what I am required to do. He pays me cash under the table for the extra work that I do for him. A while back he offered me a job in his company basically doing what I do now, only with more responsibility. He recently was going to buy a building of his own for his business, and he told me he was going to take me with him as one of his employees. Well that deal seems to be falling through... (the building's roof is damaged). It seems like forever sense he told me he would hire me... (probably close to a year) and he has hired other people for different positions in his company. I REALLY need to start making more money... but I don't know if I should wait around or just start looking for another job elsewhere. I would love to work for this guy cause he is laid back, but I cant wait

forever. I feel like am starting to drown in my bills.

I cannot get more money for the employer that I currently work for... I have asked for a raise and was denied for a lame reason. That lame reason being that I don't call out often but when I do I don't call 2 hours ahead of time, I only call one hour ahead of time. Or at least that is the excuse they gave. So what should I do?

Talk to the guy who said he wanted to hire you. Let him know that you are going to be looking for other employment. If he is serious, he will hire you. If not, at least you can begin looking for other employment.

Don't just sit and wait. Let him know that you are looking immediately and won't wait around. If he thinks you will wait for his job, he will put you off. If he won't give you a definite answer, start job hunting.

you need to start looking for a new job with better pay.You have resposabilities such as bills. Don't wait for the "easy" jobs.learn some work ethics first once yo've paid your dues the easier jobs will become more available. Good luck.
