What is the process for subleasing your apartment?

I currently live in Chicago and I've been offered a job in Philadelphia, but my management office will not let me out of my lease although the buildings are currently in the process of turning condo. When I signed the lease in June I also signed a 'rider' stipulating that the landlord would give me 4 months notice to vacate the apartment if the plans for renovation are to begin before my lease is up. I need to sublease this apartment so I can relocate. Does anyone know the process for subleasing? i.e. (credit checks, deposits, responsiblity...etc)

You most likely need to check with your landlord if subletting is allowed in your particular building. I would say of the apartments I haev lived in, it was pretty much half/half, allowed/not allowed to sublet, and the process (if you are allowed) will need to go through your landlord anyway.
Check somewhere in your original lease agreement, if not contact them directly.

the first step would be to make sure you are even allowed to sublet. In some cases this is written in the lease that it is absolutely not allowed.

Find out if it's allowed by your landlord. Then if it is, find out what their rules are.
