Landlord issues? |
if its not in your lease, can your landlord charge you twice for a pet deposit? we had a dog and paid the deposit and got rid of it. now we have a puppy and he is trying to say we will have to pay again. but it doesnt say per animal in our lease. he says we are "jerking the business office around" can he do this? if not, what can we do to make sure he doesnt? crap, i dont know if i still have it. i have the check print out from when i wrote him a check for it. will that work? No they can not charge you twice, unless they refunded your 1st pet deposit. call the county or state for the rule if you have your receipt from the last dog, find it and confront him with this and the lease, i been Thur this myself if you have lost the receipt theres really nothing you can do but, pay the scumbag again! No the landlord can charge a pet deposit 2 times. He is jerking you around. Move and fine a landlord that is honest and up front and he them put into the lease one pet accepted with a pet deposit. Call the BBB on yours or take him to court. Produce the receipt that says you paid the pet deposit. Hopefully you got a receipt for the first deposit, if not your word against his. If you have it copy it and show him you paid already. Get your papers in order. If you have your cancled check that states it was a "Pet Deposit" then you will be ok and they can't charge you again UNLESS it states "Per Pet" in your lease. If not then one deposit is all they can charge, but if the Landlord is a jerk he can hassle the heck out of you and make you miserable. |
