Apartment noise???

Hi, I'm living in suburb of Chicago in a apartment... About 6 monthes ago, I have started to have the noise problem from my upstair. He lives alone in my upstair, the problem is that he plays guitar and piano all the time, even after midnight (around 1 AM)!!! I and my mother complained to the main(rental) office about 6 times, but nothing was improved, it got worse. A week ago my mother went upstair because he played piano around 10 PM, but he was quiet only for that day, and he started to play the music all the time again. I have no idea what do I have to do at this point, and I'm going to be crazy because of those noise. We have lease that we got to stay one year, November 1st on this year... Would you give me any solution about this problem? (the complain did not work at all)(On today, from I came back to the house from the school, he has been playing guitar and piano... I am really going to crazy because of those noise...)

Leases sometimes have explicit noise prohibitions. If not, the community does. It's typically something like no noise discernible outside the residence between 10 pm and 6 am. If there's nothing in the lease, and speaking with the perp hasn't accomplished anything, the only thing you can do is call the cops about it. It's possible you could legally break your lease on grounds of them maintaining a public nuisance or something like that.

Call the police...there is noise ordinances in most if not all cities and towns. Talking to the guy and complaining to the management has done no good...so your only recourse is police

Contact the police, who can issue him a noise violation citation.
