Why does America feel the need to remake everything?

I'm currently watching the grudge on tv and its really lame it hasn't got anything on the original
but not just that theres other things like the ring, the Italian job, the office
And I've recently heard there now remaking spaced and life on mars
why can't they leave things as they are?

I like the US version of the Office, it's almost as good as the original (but not quite).
The same thing happens in reverse too you know, with US programmes being remade for UK audiences.

If you don't approve of something being remade....don't watch it. Personally I don't really care, as it's only entertainment and shouldn't be taken too seriously.

You mention that you love "The Golden Girls" and that it doesn't need to be remade......well that's interesting because it was bought by a British studio, and they REMADE it as "The Brighton Belles". It was bloody awful and was a flop. Shall I give you another example son, or was that one off the top of my head enough?

They do re-makes because they are too thick to understand the originals without them being "Americanised".
