Would a company who organizes high school dances locally work out?

My high school almost NEVER holds dances, usually 3 per year maximum, but there is always 200-250 kids there. I need to create a business plan for my entrepreneurship class and I was wondering if anyone could comment on this idea.

My company would organize a dance by renting a location near the high school and hiring a DJ. The cost of the building would be rather inexpensive, it is a grange hall and rarely gets used except for town meetings and dances.

The reason I believe this might be profitable is because a student at our high school organized a dance to benefit her trip to Africa and she made a lot of money for that. So if that worked, why couldn't I profit off of the idea?

The business would expand to organize dances for several area schools, and costs would be low. Minimal office space would be required and no other employees necessary to begin with.

Would it be profitable enough? Is there an aspect/new idea that should be added?

Cost of admission to an informal dance would probably be $5, since that's the norm for dances. Formal dances, which would occur less often, could charge as much as $10 for individuals and $15 for couples. Also, baked goods and beverages would be sold. Water sells very well at dances given the temperature and activity.

Personally, I think that the student who organized the dance benefitted from the fact that she was working towards a goal.
If you run it as a business and expect to hold dances just for schools every other week or so, it might work better as a part-time business.

Assuming you have bigger plans, then you might want to consider organizing general events as well for example :

-Small company gatherings.
-Birtday parties.
-Anniversary parties.
-Small concerts.
