Why are most of our British TV shows remade for America?

-The Office
- The IT crowd
- Spaced

We have to watch their shows, why can't they be happy with ours?

Because.. there's more $$$ to be made with original programming.. and LA feels that middle America would rather hear/see something that doesn't seem "foreign".

Take credit.. because America does re-do GB's shows and not many others, from anywhre else... They're in English... and the semi-comatose nephews/nieces that make these decisions in Los Angeles... have no ideas, no conceptual or original thoughts nor the bawlz to try anything new.. so, they pop in to view in meetings (and can be sold/sell ideas) that which is already done... in English...

Most Americans don't get Brittish humor.

If you think about the office, how could anybody appreciate the humour of it being set in Slough.

I'm American and I have to agree with the first two people. We don't understand British humor. My mom and grandma are both from England, so I have no bad feelings towards British shows, it's just that our humor is a little bit different than yours. Things are changed here in the US so we can relate to the show a little bit better.
