I am trying to get 2 scenes from Office Space. How can I?

I have tried using Nero 7.0 to aquire these scenes. When I copy the files, it shows part of the video but only on horizontal bars (They look like the equilizer bars). I really need these clips for a class project. Please advise on how and what programs to use.
