What is the best brand of computer and why. & what are the best amounts of space, ram, & etc. for office?

I can tell you what brand NOT to buy. Don't waste your money on anything from Hewlett Packard. Their products are cheap, low-quality crap. I've had 2 HP printers and they were both riddled with defects. One of them broke only 4 months after I bought it. And, of course, their customer service is worthless and their warranty is a JOKE! Save yourself the headache: avoid HP...they are like the Ford of the computer business.

best computer brand is a matter of opinion. Personally the best computer you can get is one you build yourself. When you go to HP or dell, for example, you are paying for the machine and customer support.

space for a PC these days is at least 80 GB and consider 160 GB if not too much more. RAM is at least 512 MB but 1 GB is better.

Go to dell and hp and configure a machine online. That will give you a good idea of costs.

you can get a dell for under 1200 dollars fully loaded with microsoft xp plus other things,they have a very good tech support system for those who need it

The best is a matter of opinion.
I have 11 computers at my home.
I built 7 of them myself.
I have 2 Dell, 2 HP.
I bought 200 Dell computers for my employer's network.
If I was buying computers again for office work, I would go with Dell again. Starting at about $400.
I would get them without Office Productivity and download the office suite from http://www.openoffice.org
