I am leasing a building and converting to a medical office. Are there med office building codes? |
All I need to do at this time is install sinks into the exam rooms, do I need to use only stainless steel? Can I leave the floors carpeted? Who do I contact to find this out? Is there a separate inspection for medical office space? I am thinking OSHA, but there may be others? In almost all jurisdictions, this type of interior fit work requires a building permit. (Did you just hear the sound of cash flowing out of your pocket?) Unfortunately, you will probably have to present drawings to your local builidng department for review and approval. Get a general contractor working with you... they should be able to navigate the process for you. You need to know what the city, county and state building codes are for such facilities. Knowing about such buildings could come from other investment companies that own those types of properties. A good Commercial Realtor will also know the in's and out's of this kind of facility. |
