I don't have Office or Windows works. How can I type a letter?

I hate Open Office. Too complicated, can't make it work so deleted it. Lost Windows Works when my motherboard fried, but loved the program. Want to write a friend a letter to copy off and mail. What can I use that's simple and doesn't take up take up so much space, like Open Office did?

Windows built-in WordPad is likely all you need:

Start > All Programs > Accessories > WordPad

OR try Abi-Word, Google for it.

OR try Google Docs, Google for it.

if you have a gmail account, try google docs... its online so you dont have to download it and you can save your files safely without having to worry on a fried motherboard..

You may try an Online Writer like Google Docs

Or a software like AbiWord

it's great and small but with lots of features and free

Micro Soft Word is about as easy as it gets to type a letter. I see no reason why this method would cause any trouble. They have excellent support and troubleshooting is very easy. I would download the program and make sure you have virus protection.

Wordpad is a cut down word processing program that should be on your computer. It is an "accessory" in Windows. It does not have a spell checker but does have some formatting features. Go to eBay and see if you can buy a copy of an older version of Works or Office. I bought a new copy of Office 97 for $15.

Notepad comes with windows

There's a few free word processors out there that are pretty good. Check out AbiWord at abisource.com or Jarte at jarte.com.

If you call OpenOffice 'complicated', there is simply nothing for you out there. I guess it's much simpler than MS-Office (at least the Writer is). Sorry!
:(

All you can do is visit
http://office.microsoft.com/
and buy a copy of MS-Office 2007.

There's also StarOffice available for free with Google Pack, but it has the same interface as OpenOffice (it's the premium version of OpenOffice), so you will find it complicated too.

Lotus is offering it's own office suite, Symphony, for free. It includes a word processor, a spreadsheet and a presentation application. But Symphony is still in beta state and could cause instability of your system.

AbiWord is a free word processor available at
http://abisource.com/
But it too has an OpenOffice-like interface (not exactly similar, but to a good extent).

:)

go to openoffice.org and download a free microsoft word compatable office suit

The only problem that about using the notepad on the computer is that sometimes when you attend college is that it is not compatable with that because they mostly have microsoft word and that program will not pull up with notepad. but you can find copies of word on things like limewire that is easy to understand
