Do space heaters consume enough energy to blow fuses?

Every time we blow a fuse at work, the space heaters of the office are blamed. It couldn't be the copy machine, 6 adding machines, 12 computers, 5 radios, the toaster, microwave, coffee maker, refrigerator or anything else blowing the fuse? Yesterday, our "transformer" was running hot. We were told it was due to the space heaters. I'm not talking about a heater large enough to heat entire rooms, I'm talking a small heated fan that runs on LOW for half of the day. Does this really contribute to that much energy consumption?

The link below gives the typical energy use of appliances. But a computer would use 100 to 200 watts when on. A lot of space heaters you would find for a home and such are 1200 watts or even more. This is 10 or more amps. A small space heater, 700 watts, would draw 6 amps. So a space heater is a much bigger load than a computer. A small radio may use only 50 watts when on. The total current draw is what matters. I think the real issue here is that the electric wiring was planned for the normal office load. When even small space heaters are added it pushs the load past the breaker or fuse limit and it trips the breaker or fuse for that circuit.

it might be the fuss box where the electricity comes from,or it coud be two many plugs in the one socket.

Are all those appliances on the same circuit/fuse? No wonder you're blowing circuit breakers. Throw one of those space heaters on, even on a "low" setting, and it's smoking wire coils.

There are two things you need to consider: one is total load, when all devices are running at the same time on a single circuit, and max load, which occurs when you first turn on a device. Your little space heater may run at 700 watts, but sometimes it draws much more to get started, just enough to trip the breaker even though your total wattage draw is less than what the circuit can handle. Your fridge can also do a number on the circuit when the compressor kicks in initially.

Best advice: spread out your appliances among all active circuits. Make sure your circuits can handle all that equipment. Better to blow a circuit breaker than burn down a building.
