How to make a work space for a writer if she doesn't have a room?

I am an aspiring writer (of mostly fiction), as well as a full-time college student. I still live with my parents, but I sleep in the living room. And I was wondering...

How do I make myself a special writing space (ie: an office) if I don't have a room? It's really hard to get work done (my writing, as well as my homework) in the living room. I'm unable to concentrate, and it's uncomfortable sitting on the floor or couch (overheated)! And, let's face it, it's hard to hear the dialogue of your characters when your mother is nagging at you about being on the computer too much.

So... what would you do in this situation? Any and all advice is welcomed, but answers from other writers, either published or unpublished, is encouraged, as they might be able to relate a little better.

while i was in college, and needed quiet time to write, i would go to the library, our dorm study room downstairs, or the college auditorium. u could do the same if there is a college campus nearby. if not, then the public library might work.

stephen king says close urself off in ur closet. if it's big enough for a stool and a lapdesk, and it has a light, that could work.

u may also want to consider figuring out how to become a resident assistant in ur college dorm. u may get free room, and the privacy u need to work. plus the perks of some semblance of independence.
