How to free up space in my hard disc ? |
I am having some probs... my com .. is running out of space 2 install stuff... and programs... my com .. has about only 40 GB of space and all thats left is .. erm... about 8.7 Gb .... mostly the MIcrosoft Office 2007 took most of the ram space..anw..erm..i hav also checked and deleted stuff that i dont want and need anymore.. but i still have some problems.. so .. pls guys.. is there any software that can help my blues or anythin that can help me ?? thx Personally, I like CCleaner. It will clean up a lot of temporary files that get left behind from old programs, even ones that Windows leaves behind after running the Disk Cleanup utility. It can even clean your registry as well (just be sure you back it up before you delete anything). You can downloaded the latest version of CCleaner for free here: http://www.filehippo.com/download_cclean... just buy a second hardrive..quite cheap, prob solved! the easiest thing to do would be to add another hard drive. Check to see whether your comp uses ide or sata and buy a new hard drive. the installation is not that difficult, prices are fairly cheap, and you will add a ton of space. If you want to do this, look for your motherboard's model number or the manufacturer's info on the system. Well, the problem lies in the fact that if you have removed a lot of the stuff that you don't want, there can't be a huge amount of stuff left on your computer. On the other hand, I did once try and free up a bit of free space on a friends computer, and I got rid of 6GB in temporary files and the like. An easy way to do this is CCleaner - it gets rid of a lot of stuff easily. Aside from that - RAM is not space on your computer - it's essentially temporary space used by programs only when running, which Microsoft Office 2007 does, but so do many others. Aside from that, run CCleaner on defualt settings etc and it should clear out a 1-2GB i reckon. No software will really help much. It's time to upgrade. You can add another internal HDD pretty cheap if your box has room for one. If not, get an external USB hard drive. Don't waste time trying to fix it with software. Download Super Utilities Software from www.superlogix.net or .com OR try ND Dirt Shooter it will Free your Hard disk Hey David, first you should go to add/remove programs in control panel and remove those that you don't use anymore. That'll free up some space in terms of MB and not GB. Some of the biggest consumers of space are pictures, music and video. If you are a picture/music/video person, then you might need to purge some files. If purging is not an options then you will need to upgrade your HD. |
