Can anyone tell me how to get rid of space on my hard drive please?

I have tried disk clean up, removing programs and i delete a bit of space. Give it half hour and it says low disk space again. What does "microsoft office with frontpage" do? That has over 200mb! Should i delete it or what?

Did you manually increase the size of your paging file? Anything like that?

If nothing works you could just go to best buy and purchase a new harddrive. They are not difficult to install.

Go under accesories and go to disk defragmentor. Tell it to defragment drive c. It may take a while but it compacts information to make your computer run smoothly. if that dosnt work delete all your tempoary files and cookies.

Put it all back in there, and take it back to the shop. Get a refund and go to toys r us. Once there, ask for an 'etch a sketch'.

If you want to get rid of space in your hard drive simply fill it with more data. :)

I assume you mean you want to clean up space, not get rid of it.
MS Office is Word, Excel, Powerpoint, Access and all that. You probably want to keep it.

Soundsl ike you might have spy ware. Run a spyware killer and then see if you have any other programs you can uninstall. If you are running windows, you must perform an uninstall to completely remove all files. That is in the control panel. The go to add/remove programs.

Office with frontpage is Word, Excel etc - so don't delete it!

Clear out all the files in C:\WINDOWS\TEMP

Go to \DOCUMENTS & SETTINGS\<USERNAME>\LOCAL SETTINGS\TEMP and clear that out

You might also want to make sure you have a virus checker running to make sure you don't have one thats filling your disk with rubbish.

Go to INTERNET OPTIONS within explorer and clear cookies and cached files too

Soon or later this happens - the only thing you can do is to buy new hard disc. I used to have only 1 disc with 10 GB space. That's nothing. Now i also have disc with 60 GB and that's not much too. So if you don't want problems with free space (which however come soon or later) buy disc with over 1 Terrabyte space.

You don't say how big your disk is but one solution would be to buy and install a second hard disk.

A few things you could look at:
Right click on the recycle bin, click on 'Use one setting for all drives' and then set the maximum size of the recycle bin to about 1% by moving the slider.

Open up Internet Explorer, click on the Tools menu option and select Internet Options. In the middle section 'Temporary Internet Files' click on settings and under 'Amount of disk space to use' move the slider to the left and reduce the amount to about 2% of the total disk size.

On the same 'Internet Options' page click on the 'Delete Cookies', 'Delete Files' and 'Clear History' buttons.

Click on the start button and then click on Search. Search for any files on the computer with the extensions of *.tmp, *.bak, *.zip. You are probably OK to delete any of these although you may want to check with anybody else who uses the computer first.

Bring up the Control Panel, click on 'Add or Remove programs' and browse through the list. If there is anything on there you don't use then click on the 'Remove' button to free off the space. Just remember to check with anybody else who uses the computer before you do this though.

go to www.ccleaner.com ( yes 2 "c's) www.ccleaner.com and install CCleaner. Run it and it will free up a lot of space. Trust me.over 500 megabites!

You really need to learn a bit about your pc and how it works. You don't say how big your hard drive is, but even if its only a 60 gig you're doing well to fill it.
'Microsoft Office' is your office suite. 'Frontpage' is the web writer. Its not something you want to delete.

Its not the space you are trying to delete, you are trying to create space. If you've got any music, burn it to c.d. and delete it. Same for photos. Those are big files.

Then run the disc defragmenter. Go to start - programs - accessories - system tools - disk defragmenter.
Leave the pc alone while it runs.

Then download Ccleaner and install it. Click the Cleaner button at the top left (brush icon), then click the Analyse button. Then click the Run Cleaner button. It should free up some temporary space that Windows needs to run.

You could try adding a second hard drive and more RAM, its best to have 1 gig RAM. You could buy external storage and keep your bigger files on there; either an external plug in hard drive or c.d's will work fine.

You also need to keep your system clean from spyware that might be running in the background. Plus you've also probably got all your programs to load on startup. But that's something that you need to get someone to show you how to fix, or find a good step by step tutorial with print screen shots.

Try installing Avast! antivirus, Ewido anto trojan and Ad-Aware SE Personal, plus a good firewall. Update and run them every week.
