What's a better way to redesigning a home office?

I want to redesign my home office -- install built in cabinets, bookcases, widen counter space, allow for more computers, etc. Right now it is a hodgepodge of hutches, desks, bookcases that don't match. More importantly I need better organization

I'm confused whether I should go with companies such as California Closets http://californiaclosets.com/ which does cabinets or do it via a local contractor. What are the pros and cons of each one? Thanks

Sorry forgot to add that we do not have any DIY skills, especially in the installation of cabinets in the walls. Right now, we have Ikea home office tables - that much we can do. But we want to maximize the home office space by utilizing the walls for cabinetry.

California Closets provides the entire package from consultation to design to construction to installation.

If you were to go the local contractor route, you would have to also hire all of the other components that California Closets offer, such as design consultant, architect, contractor, inspection, etc..

My advice:

Go the California Closets route (they are also contractors).

You are dealing with one company that has incorporated the entire team into a complete system; that would customize your office based on how you work.

I always like the economy of Ikea. It's more of a do-it-yourself approach. But they do have whole systems of cabinets etc. They probably have an installation service and a design service but I've never used it. California Closets looks very nice but expensive.

The best way to do is have in built cabinets... which cant be done by your self. It would be better if you first get an estimate from a local contractor. Then compare it with the Ikea's offer.

Try to have cabinets installed only on two walls which is not infront of the door and not behind you. you can have a small closet & filing cabinet near your table for the frequently required stuff. rest of the stuff can go to the in built cabinets.

For making space for more computers - you can buy any good table ( L shape) and also buy a KVM switch. so that you dont have to have as much monitor as your computers. there are 4-1 KVM's available in local stores. with that you can connect 4 CPUs to 1 Monitor.. It would be a great space saver.

i'am not a good answer for this question but i think this web site may help u to redesigning a home office.

You need to think about what your needs for your home business will be in 2 years to 5 years from now will be. Will you need to focus on having enough hardware equipment, such as backup hard drives or RAM, additional cabinets for your CD's for your business, or file cabinets etc. Also you need to consider making it comfortable for your self given you will be spending plenty of time there and making it a rewarding experience so you keep coming back to your office whereby your reward for doing so will be increased revenue.

Good Luck and enjoy your self.

You are the best decor person think about it but you can try http://www.officefurniture.com/Browse/Ho...

In redesigning a home office, the two things that go hand in hand is space and growth, I work out of my home also and space is constantly an issue, as your office grows you will need more space to accommodate the growth and to help with the organization of your business. If I was you I would check out both Cali closets and get some quotes from some individual contractors, Cali closets does custom design too, and being a national company I am sure that they back up their work, just make sure you keep in mind what your goals are and where your budget lies.

see firstly i think it wil be better if u try to redesigne ur self insted of hireing peple 4 d same
n the othr thng is arrange d furniture acc 2 thr use n mke thn fit horizontly.......... by this they wil occupy less space........................

I looked for an office recycler !

I found a company that cleared offices of their office furniture when they relocate to different premises. Many companies don't move furniture but have new office furnite deliverd to the new premises. They call in this company to strip the offices and dispose of the furniture and anything else they are dumping. This company then had a huge warehouse where these items were stored and advertised online to secondhand buyers.

I fitted my office with three modern curved desks about 2.3m long that forms a semicircle of deskspace in one end of my office. I bought shelving etc. from them and the cost of this all was about 拢200.00 including delivery and installation. This same company also had two very beautiful double tiered electric desks that could be adjusted by remote control.

Its worth finding where office furniture is recycled in your area. My local furniture outlet quoted 拢3000.00 for a similar layout brand new bespoke. What a laugh!
