PARENTS: need your advice! I have a baby's room, and a large office / guest room and not sure how to set up..

Not sure how to set up a bigger playroom..... I work from home, so need the office set-up to be convenient and we rarely have guests, but I think I should keep the queen bed.

The baby's room is very small (10x10) and other room twice as large (10x20)... should I squeeze the bed / desk into the small room and leave the large room for baby / play area as my main goal is to have a large space where the baby can spread out his toys now that he is growing (he is 1 now)

Or do I keep the office on part of the large room and somehow divide the rest for baby (convenient b/c I can work while he plays -- but who wants computer equipment in the baby's room??!!)

We are also planning to have anther baby sometime soon, so I giess if I make the large room just for baby, he will later share with the newborn -- is this a good idea???

This can't be so difficult, but I am having quite a time fitting the many needs (baby playroom, office, guestroom, new baby crib area in future) into two spaces

whatever you decide, just never forget that from now on, children want to play wherever their parents are...........be it the kitchen, the office, etc....they never play in their own rooms. I vote for putting two babies in a 10x10 room to sleep.

Turn the smaller room into an office/guest room, and turn the large room into a "nursery", like in Mary Poppins, or Peter Pan.

This is what I'd do.

Get a futon or a sleeper couch (personally I think futons are more comfortable) for your guests to sleep on. Put it in the office along with the kids toys. If the room has a closet try to organize it so that the toys will all fit in it and be accessible to your little one. I feel that bedrooms should be for sleeping only. And I don't think that a 10x20 room is too small for office/playroom. My office/playroom is 10x10 (plus a closet) and we have a queen size futon in there too. I have my kids put all the toys away before naps and bed time and I have my office mess cleaned up before they wake up. Plus there's a couch in there for me and we can watch DVDs on the computer. Its great.

ps if you have too many toys, god knows that we all do here's what to do. Box some up that she doesn't play with often and put them in the garage for a few months. Take them out on a rainy day and box up some other ones. It's like getting new toys every couple of months.

hard one
