Disk space vs RAM?

Computer always says "Low disk space". I have cleared out as much as I can from the H and C drives. Microsoft office takes up alot. I have 512 MB of Ram. How do I increase or buy more disk space and RAM? Also, dvd rom no longer works. Any solutions? I have the HP pavilion a320n. Can't use software because it hasn't worked in a long time.

This message will appear when your disk space of your partition reaches 200 MB, 80 MB and 50 MB. The notification styles is like below :

200 MB : 10 secs balloon popup, once per session
80 MB : 30 secs balloon popup, every 4 hours, twice per session
50MB : 30 secs balloon popup, every 5 minutes, until free space is above 50 MB

The message is not related to RAM, it just you HDD drive space. To overcome this problem, either clear up your HDD drive or buy another HDD drive and move the files into your new HDD partition.

You also can disabled the notification thru Registry Editor.

For your DVD-ROM, might need to replace with new one or reinstall it. As for your MS Office, uninstall and reinstall it may allows you to use the software again.

It means you need a bigger hard disk. So you'll need to back up anything you want to have backed up and get a bigger hard disk. The best thing to do is get a small 30GB hard disk, just for you programs and operating system, and a bigger 80 GB or larger one for personal files.

Well, you can always take the computer to a shop and they'll install a new DVD drive and hard drive for you.
You shouldn't have to buy more RAM if you're running XP (although over 512 megabytes would be nice). If you were running Vista, then you'd want 1 gigabyte of RAM.
What's the size of your old hard drive? I think for general use, something over 100 gigabytes should be more than enough for one person.
Your hard drive probably uses the EIDE drive interface. Click the link below for examples. (If you're from Canada, you can visit tigerdirect.ca)

You can also keep your old drive and use both the new drive and the old one in your computer.

According to HP, you can go as high as 1 GB in Ram, two 512 MB sticks of PC2700 184 pins. Your HD is 120 GB which is sufficient in size. You need to go through your Program File folder and see what programs you don't use and delete them in the Control Panel Add and Remove programs. What happen to your F & G drives? I see that your two optical drives should be D & E. Your hard drive is 5400 rpm. A 7200 rpm would be better. Download and install CCleaner to clean up the HDD. Careful you don't go above 120 GB on the HDD unless you can update your Bios to accept HDD's higher than 137GB's.

Hey my sweet friend...your computer have tell you "low disk space"thats mean you hardisk space is limited and need to enlarged it by buy the new hardisk to increase the space therefore you can solve the major problem. However talk about your HP pavilion a320n...i can't help because I don't heard before so sorry. Then the DVD rom no longer work i think is neccessary is the cable or port problem if still can't solve you also can check in device manager(contain at desktop point computer right click properties)then check the rom is able working. If still can't is time to change the new.

uhh... the a320n comes with 512mb ram standard which is the amount of ram most commonly used by users of windows xp... however, you can certainly upgrade if you like by going to crucial.com or similar websites... the disk space on your computer appears from the specs at hp to be 120gb which is quite a lot... i sincerely doubt you are in need of ram or disk space...unless you have a virus which can do evil things like download trash over the internet which will eventually max out your hard drive... you may want to do a system restore from your hp cdroms which will completely format your hard drive and require that you install all of your software, etc. again. of course, you would lose any documents that you may have made...unless you make a backup of some kind... the other option would be to hire a local network tech in your neighborhood and have them repair your computer... it can be quite expensive though. it would be cheaper to do the system restore from your cdroms but there are risks involved.
