Trouble on Windows 95/office 97?

Everytime I'm gonna run Word 97, pop out a message box saying: "Not enough
memory or space in Hard Disk to run Word"

Word used to work OK. My PC has 16 MB ram (Office 97 works with 8 mb)
it's a 80486 and my Hard Disk has like 1 GB of free space.

The thing is I accidently, erased the file SYSTEM.DAT a couple of weeks ago
This file did not have Backup, so I created a new one. I researched on Internet
the problem was in this file. But I don't Know how to edit it with REGEDIT.EXE
they are some really complicated keys and I don't know what do I have to add
or where.

This also caused trobleshooting in several Programs:

It's not a Memory problem because I install Office 95 and there's the same issues.

Remember: All this programs used to work OK. This happened after I erased the file SYSTEM.DAT
The one I erased had a size like 9 MB. The new one it's like 1.5 MB.

What can I do to fix all this problems? Please help me. I will be really grateful.

Thank you.

Time to upgrade. No one will touch a Windows 95 machine. Microsoft doesn't even support it. Get XP or Vista (buy a new computer).

Wow you are really cutting edge :-)

Well try deleting all your temporary files, its' been a long time but I think the temp folder is C:\WINDOWS\TEMP

Next do a SCANDISK and after that runs, try to DEFRAG your hard drive.

If that doesn't work, then it's really time to upgrade!!!!
