Ideas for an office/nursery? |
We are living in a 1200 sq ft apartment, and are a little low on space. We are expecting a child in July, and will be using the baby's room as an office as well. Any ideas on how to decorate so that the room will not look tacky? Not trying to be difficult, I have to say that I think it's not such a good idea to combine a baby's room and an office into one. To me, it would be better to either designate a corner in your bedroom for the office area or for a nursery area. Speaking from experience, there will be times when the baby is napping that you will want to get some work done in the office and you wouldn't be able to do so without waking the baby if the 2 rooms are combined. And trust me, you get ZERO work done once you've waken up a tired, cranky baby!! I would second the first answer, but if you're not able to put the office anywhere else, maybe partioning the area with a curtain would be the way to go. If it's just a small desk, a few file cabinets and the like, that's probably a good option. paint the room a neutral color like a tan, no dark colors b/c it will make the room look smaller - decorate it with pin boards, pictures, funky lamps and fluffy pillows etc. this way it can be an office or it cant even be set for either a boy or a girl ! Stick with a combination of neutral (beiges) and pastels. That combination is all the rage in the field of scrapbooking, and would look quite nice in real life! I saw a really neat idea the other day on a remodeling show. And they did the room is earth tones and theme. They painted the walls with like a sage green, and used other colors for accent, like yellows, browns, some reds. Those are fun colors for a baby, and for your office. You could get like an armoire to keep your office supplies/computer in and just close the doors on it when you're not using it to keep the clutter hidden. Gotta do what you gotta do with small spaces....I understand that! |
