How can I free up space on my hard drive?

I don't know what to do. I'm trying to install office 07 for school and i"m already late for an assignment. I have 960MB total space required and 736MB available. Does anybody know what to do in this situation or even have ideas?

1) delete temp files
2) uninstall old applications that you don't need
3) delete any trial software that came with your pc
4) reduce IE temp tiles cache size
5) reduce recycle bin size
6) reduce system restore cache size
7) empty internet explorer cahce

try 3rd party tools:

Click Start

Click run

Type in "cleanmgr"

This should clean out the useless files on your computer.

Go through your control panel and uninstall all of those programs that you do not use. That is one really GREAT way to make room.

Also, if you have lots of pictures and music, maybe you should copy them all to a dvd or something like that. That can save some space.

But if you only have 736mb of space you are in really bad shape!!! I'd love to know how big your hard drive is. Might be a time for some upgrading. It is fairly cheap.

Burn somethings on your hard drive to a CD-R and then get rid of those things on your hard drive.
If you have pictures on your hard drive, you should back those up to a CD-R anyway. If you don't have a CD burner but you have access to the Internet, goto www.xdrive.com to upload files that you currently don't need or use a USB thumb/flash drive to back up files.

Remove any programs you are not using.

Start, Control Panel, Add/Remove Programs

I would highly recommend that you download (for free) the ccleaner program at http://ccleaner.com/ . It's not only a freeware program, but it is extremely effective in getting rid of temp, internet and unused files. I use it religiously and my system does not get bogged down with junk files.

Things to do : 1) Go into control panel/add remove programs, uninstall any programs you don't need. 2) Go into My Documents delete anything you don't need. 3)Go into Programs/Accessories/System tools and do a disc cleanup. 4) Go to http://www.ccleaner.com/ . download ccleaner its free and it will help you clean your pc of un-needed files.
Hope this helps.

just go to control panel, go to add/remove programs.
then remove all unnecessary programs u have.
if u still dint get enough space , remove unwanted files in your drives . this shud do it.

get XPLITE = XPlite and 2000lite are powerful configuration utilities for Windows creating a modular Windows operating system where YOU are in control.

it will allow you to remove a lot of the junk from Windows.
