Need some tips for a small office....?

I'm planning on changing our current diningroom to our office. However, it also has to double as a laundry room.
Our washer and dryer are enclosed in a closet and the room itself is approximately 12X10 feet. We have a huge desk that in my opinion could go, because all we have is a laptop, printer, desk lamp and a modem. The rest of our desk space right now is used to harbor clutter. I also need space to fold clothes. The area is pretty dimly lit and the only window looks into our car port. We don't have a desk chair right now either, we're currently using a kitchen chair. I'm not looking to spend more than a couple hundred dollars total, but I don't want it to look cheap. Any tips? BTW, we like wooden furniture and classic, clean looks without it being cold and uninviting. Thanks.

Look in the classified section of your newspaper under office furniture for sale. Sometimes there are corporations unloading large amounts of computers and furniture real cheap. You should also look for used office furniture brokers in the phone book. Look around a bit and you might be surprised what you can buy for $200.
