I want to apply for "OFFICE DEPOT" but I need your help to increase my chances? plz help :)?

Have you worked for OFFICE DEPOT? because that would help. Anyway I want to work there, and of course I am a studen, with 2 Days of school in Florida Atlantic University. One in Friday and one in Saturday, both different both start at 9:00am to 12:00pm, Art history and drawing class. I need space during the week to work on my homework and study as well. When they ask for availability on the application, I dont know the most convienent, My plan is to have Monday to Wednesday from 12;00PM to Close,Thursday N/A (need rest for friday class and to wake early, Friday N/A (dont wanna be waking late for saturday) , Saturday 6:00pm-Close, and Sunday 12:00pm to Close. Thats my plan, and should I put too much on my education, most of the people that told me, I shouldnt put too much on education or the employer will think I might just be there temporarily.I really need a job, creditcard is at danger lvl, and no income.
So yalll know how to get hired in this?

thanks for the answers ya

I haven't worked for Office Depot, but I have spent enough time in retail to learn a few things.

First I would open up your availability as much as possible. For example, I would suggest being available any time, open-close, on your non-school days. And on the days you do have class, block out your class times but say that you are available in the afternoon (starting at 1 or 2, depending how long it would take to get to work from school). Retail employers are looking for people who are flexible, and they may only have certain shift times that they are hiring for (i.e. Maybe they only need someone to open on Mondays and Wednesdays and Friday). If you walk in saying that you won't work certain days, and another applicant is open Sunday thru Saturday, open to close, they will probably choose the other person.

This is NOT to say that you should hide the fact that you are a student. This is an industry with a high-turnover rate, especially in markets with a large student population. A majority of retail employees are college students (even many assistant managers are), so they should understand your academic needs to a point. But you still may have to work earlier or later than you'd like. Also keep in mind this position is probably only part-time, which means you will still have plenty of time every week for homework and sleep and other stuff. I've worked with people who were also going to school full-time (and taking many more classes than you are). They are stressed and tired and always in a rush, but it's what they have to do to make ends meet. It's not up to employers to make sacrifices for us. If you want the job, you have to show them how much you want it.

Good Luck!

Be Honest! Just be honest okay!

its time to make sacrifices. does it have to be depot?
