IWork 08' or Wait for Office 2008? |
I was wondering if it is a good time for me to switch to iWork 08 or wait for office 2008 to come out in January. I am a business major and I will need to be doing a lot of presentations and essays and other such things. Also, the university I am at uses PC's, but I heard that in iWork 08' you can transfer the files easily to a PC, but will the format be messed up (Ex. The font, spacing and other such things)? I know iWork 08' will be cheaper, but is it going to be worth it, or only cause me trouble switching from mac to pc and sending files I do on a mac to a professor on a PC? Thanks for your help... and I just really need an honest opinion with some reasons why you think the way you do. I know some people are pro or anti mac/pc, I just want someone neutral out there to help me out so I get the best results. Thank you guys! answer to yr question is - for home users iwork08 is great and sufficient - for any professional job you have to use what everyone else uses and that is office - iwork can easily convert simple files but there is not program on the market that converts iWork makes much better looking documents in much less time. If you're just sending documents to PC users to read, there's an easy solution. Just save the iWork file as a PDF from the Print menu, then your work can be viewed on any platform. I'm not exactly sure how well iWork transfers to Office '07. I haven't tried it yet, but I imagine that it works flawlessly. I agree iWork is much easier to use to make great looking documents. And in addition to saving files as PDF's for other users, you can easily export to Word. (I have to do that for my business documents I need colleagues to update!) And it works flawlessly. |
