If I uninstall Microsoft Works, will it affect my use of Microsoft Office 2007?

It seems that Works contains a version of Word, and on the Add or Remove Programs list, there is some sort of Word versioning tool (sorry, I don't know the name -- I'm at work, and I'm referring to my home computer) that allows you to save Word docs so they're compatible with Works(?).
Since I use Office apps all the time, it seems to me that Works is just taking up space.

I never use and have never used Works on this computer.

Office and Works are 2 completely separate programs.
You can verify this in the C:\Program Files folder - they're really different suites.

no!! they should be one in the same. if you have one you should have the other. do you not have both? they work with each other.

Any document you have created in works cannot be opened using word without extreme difficulty. They are just not compatiable no matter what microsoft says.

Uninstalling works will not affect office 2007 but as I already stated any documents you created in Works cannot be opened with Word.
