Question.....?

Ok I have been involved in Bail Enforcement for a while. I worked for my godmother in Texas ( she has her own bail bonds company ) before me and my family moved here to Pennsylvania. Now me and my cousin ( whom I worked many a case with ) have thought about opening a Bail Enforcement Agency here in Pa.

My problem is that I am undecided. On one hand it pays pretty darn good, and there are no Bail Enforcement Officers within 100 miles or so of where I live, so there wouldnt be a problem finding bondsmen to work for. I have experiance and know the dangers of the job.
On the other hand, It requires long hours away from my wife and daughter, and in texas we had an office to work out of, whereas here we dont and would have to find a small office space and purchase a vehicle for work.
Let me know what yall think please.... best answer gets the 10 points and many thanks.

If there are no other bail recovery agents within 100 miles, you will probably do pretty well for yourself. You could put in the long hours for a few years while you grow the business--- there are always going to be more criminals to chase and business will go up, not down--- then once the demand for your services picks up, you can hire some other employees. You'd be the boss then, working fewer hours and more "normal business hours" and getting a cut of the money from the guys who go out and get the bail-jumpers in the middle of the night. It sounds like a little cash investment (for the office and the car) and some hard work could turn into a very nice future for you, but you have to approach it with the plan that within 5 years (or whatever) you will have made enough contacts in the local bail bondsmen that you need to have however-many full-time employees to make it worth your while.

I think you should be talking this over with your wife, not us. But since you want my opinion, it sounds like the market is wide open and you could make a lot of money. If I were you, I'd go for it.

I agree. Work hard and build your business for the first couple of years and then you will be able to hire a staff and work less.

first of all is there allot of crime in the area you are talking about?

second off, what does your wife think?

i would say yes go for it if your wife thinks it is a good idea. once you get going and hire some people you may not have to put in as many hours.

sounds like you've got allot of soul searching to do.

Good Luck in whatever you choose.
