Try going to a thrift store. You can often find great deals there! If you would prefer something new, Ikea and Target are a good source (and typically inexpensive).

how about bi-fold doors, a curtain hung.

A pretty curtain.

If you are lucky - cruise the neighborhood for old doors and hinge them together. If they have windows, put photos in them.

Fabric stretched over an artist's canvas frame makes wonderful room dividers. You can even make it as tall as you wish. Instructions can be found in various places over the net, but bellow I attach a pretty detailed one


Another cool idea might be room devision by selves (also usefull for storing your paper and office supplies).

Build a frame out of PVC pipe. (Small) find a pretty sheet to tack on it and make yourself a nice screen.

I made a room divider out of to hollow core doors someone was throwing away. I primed and wallpapered (illusion of draped fabric) them, then I hinged them together. Found some scrap plywood and mitered one end to make a shelf for the top of the door to det things on. Initially, the were standard door height. I have since cut them down to 5' and move them to a different location to disguise the back of the computer and wires. You could paint, stencil, decoupage or wallpaper them to match the kids taste. Try coordinating things on each side.
