Any tips for decoration shelves?

In the new house I'm moving into their is a huge wall of just wooden shelves. (The room used to be an office space) But I'm fixing it up for my teenage daughter and I need some Ideas of things to decorate them with or anything like that (pictures,ect.) There seems to be too many shelves but the homeowner has sentimental value to them and does not want them torn down.

My daughter is 17 also

Put some book ends & books up, some pictures in frame, a cool rock you found somewhere, family photo album, cd/dvd storage case, dried flowers, small fish tank, storage bins, real plants (that can climb along the shelves), small tv or stereo, curtains for her to store stuff behind on the shelves, & maybe some awards certificates in frames.

That's all I could think of off the top of my head :)

Are you able to paint them?
If you are, I'd suggest painting the 'inside' of the shelves with a couple of her favorite colors. To know where to apply the paint, imagine being able to turn the shelves horizontally, and filling them with water - that's where you'd apply the paint. To the top, bottom, back, and sides. Then I'd use a neutral color on the outermost vertical plane of the shelves.

how old is your daughter? i have a 17 year old and wish we had shelves to put stuff like stuffed animals,books, picture frames, magazines in boxes we cover with pretty wrapping paper, figurines she has collected over the years, the list goes on and on and on. just arrange it neatly and it should look great,good luck

First of all, I think the shelves is very useful for your daughter, because it can be a good place to put her books, picture frames, boxes, and so many other things. It can be a good stowing place. Your problem is how to decorate it, right? I think your kid can do it herself. She is a teenage girl, she must has her own idea. You just give her some suggestion, she will fix it. Maybe you can buy her something to decorate the shelves as a gift or prize.
