How to negotiate benefits?

What's the best way to negotiate benefits and perks (vacation, memberships, flex time, office space, etc.) after you've received a job offer?

This is for an executive position, though not the top tier.

This is tricky. Are you being hired for an executive or upper level position or just a regular employee? Regular employee there really is no room for negotiation because this can create grounds for possible discrimination in the workplace if other employees find out a new co worker got a better benefit package than they have. One employee can't receive better benefits than another employee. If it is for an executive or management role at my girlfriends last job she negotiated for a slightly lower salary in exchange for a better benefits package (she was the head of accounting department.)

No prob and GL Report It

In the U.S., unless you are being hired as an executive position with the company, benefits and perks are going to standard for the company unless you are governed by some kind of employment agreement that states differently. If you have already received and accepted a job offer the negotiation stage is already over. Before you accept the job you need to be up front about what your expectations are for benefits and other things. Call up the H.R. department now to see if there is any room for you to make changes at this point in the process. They most likely have a benefit booklet they will give you on your first day of employment that explains what you get.
