Can cove base be painted?

We are leasing office space that allows painting and would like to know if cove base can be painted. If so, which type of paint should be used?

Your cove base is either rubber or vinyl... so sorry, you can't paint it... there is no paint that will stick and stay stuck...

I'm assuming it's vinyl, it can be painted althought it probably will show paint strokes on it , ( just a suggestion ) you can buy cove base at the local retailer for around $2.28 for a 4' piece Lets say you have to cover 90 linear feet take the 90 divide by 4(base length) 23 pieces are needed or $52.44 plus the local tax. To do the job takes a flat putty knife for the removal. To put up use an adhesive you can put in a claulking gun this will speed up the process. If you can use a measuring tape this shouldn't take more than an hour or two to do.

Yes you can paint it..Sherwin Williams(which i prefer), and most other major paint companies now sell a paint that is compatable with rubber, formica, tile, porcelin etc...Follow the directions and it will stick..However cove base is so easy to remove, and replace with colored cove base, also relatively cheap....It would take less time and mess to replace it with a pre colored base...
