If only my life came with a script?

Let me start by quoting one of my favorite scenes from Office Space:

Peter: Our high school guidance counselor used to ask us what you'd do if you had a million dollars and you didn't have to work. And invariably what you'd say was supposed to be your career.
Samir: So what did you say?
Peter Gibbons: Nothing.
Lawrence: Nothing, huh?
Peter Gibbons: I would relax... I would sit on my *** all day... I would do nothing.
Lawrence: Well, you don't need a million dollars to do nothing, man. Take a look at my cousin: he's broke, don't do ****.

How did you decide what you wanted to do in life? Did anyone help you with your decision? Any regrets?

Or, are you like me, still struggling to figure it out?

It took me a few years to figure out what I wanted to do for a living. I tried several different jobs, which helped me identify the types of jobs I liked and disliked. One of my part-time jobs (coaching) helped me realize that I was happiest helping children learn and progress. I have not regretted my decision to become a teacher, nor have I regretted the time I spent doing other jobs. Those experiences have been valuable resources, when working with families from all walks of life. They also provided great real-life applications for many of the skills that I teach. Now, as I near retirement, I find myself going through that transition all over again - trying to figure out what to do with the rest of my life. I realize now that this process is a continuous one that challenges us throughout our lives, as we transition to and from each stage of our existence.

Yes, it was a hard decision and I ended up behind a desk, which I never wanted.
Oh I forgot, now I am working for myself.
