How do you make the best out working in a cubicle?

I am getting a job as a help desk anylst. I sure I'll get through it, however I always hear negative about working in a cubicle. Not to mention, I've seen Office Space.

Yep - cubicles bite. No question.

1. Make it fun: bomb your coworkers with wadded up balls of paper. Have loud imaginary conversations with people about intensely personal topics and see what others do. Make sure to go a-visitin' regularly.

2. Find an escape. Make sure you find a conference room, empty office, staff lounge, whatever where you can hide out for a few minutes. You need privacy, so go find it.

3. Leave the office at lunchtime. With an environment like that, you need to get away as often as possible.

4. Get another job. Obviously you have to make a living, but you shoud consider switching to a job where you are valued as more than just a cog in a machine.

Good luck!

Well, real work is nothing like what you see in the movies.

You'll get over it...it's really not such a struggle. Pretty much, you just come in and do your job, and what kind of furniture you're surrounded by is something that doesn't even come up in the context of your day. Next thing you know, you're wondering what you ever did by yourself in an office.

OMG-I clicked on this so I could make a quote about Office Space and not be understood but--- I love Office Space--one of my favorite movies--its pure genius--but sorry dear, never actually worked in an office

I have never seen Office Space. However, when I worked in a cubicle, I just put up cute pics of my kids, hubby, friends etc..little cartoons. I personalized it a bit, made it less sterile and tried to forget how small it really was.

Try hanging pictures of scenes of the outdoors.
