Is it a bad sign when your manager keeps making you move desks? I have moved desks at work 3 times this week..

so all I can think of is Office Space. Any opinions on the matter?

No, I don't smell, or have dirty teeth ... I've never had any complaints from any co-workers. Actually, my pals were sad I was moving out of their department...

I think there are better ways to gauge your importance to your boss than why you're playing musical desks. If the office is undergoing remodel or has a typically high turnover rate, or if there's a social issue unrelated to you, or if there's a complaint about you, there are all perfectly good reasons for your manager to continue to ask you to move from work station to work station -- keep your eyes open. There are almost always a couple more cues around you that you should be able to pick up on.

If all else fails, just ask. Letting your manager know that you're actively interested in office schematics is hardly a bad thing.

happens all the time where I work.. show flexability and work on throuh it. think nothing of it. companies change all the time. the survivors are the ones who adapt the cahnge the best. survival of the fitist.

I had seen that before. The manager in charge was actually harassing the female coworker and making her change desks so he can look at her...

it all depends on whither he keeps moving you backwards or forwards! if it is forward don't worry but if it is backwards i think i might want to ask him why and if your don't doing your job right or what it is that you can do so that he won,t move again!

Are you creating a distraction or hindrance to workers nearby? If you are talking constantly to nearby co-workers, that could be a reason.

Depends on what the manager is using as an excuse. But I can see the Office Space connection...either you buy the manager's reasons or you don't.
