Do u think the Brooklyn principal was right in selling arab Intifada tshirts at her school?

http://www.americanthinker.com/blog/2007... Comes to Brooklyn
Ed Lasky
The first New York Charter School for Arab girls is selling T-shirts emblazoned with the words "Intifada - New York."

The principle of the school, Dhabah Almontaser, said "I think it's pretty much an opportunity for girls to express that they are part of New York City society ... and shaking off oppression,"

A chance for girls tro shake off oppression that comes from being part of New York City society? How about the oppression of women that is rife in the Arab world? Women are more "liberated" in New York City than they are in Riyadh:

I do not think the proponents of charter schools had this sort of activism and education in mind. These are not the type of school uniforms contemplated by some advocates of charter schools-particularly when the principal is implicitly putting pressure on children to buy these shirts-which financially benefit an activist organization with which she shares office space.

Your link is broken but more the the point,

Intafada implies a peoples uprising, what good is a peoples revolt in NYC? I used to work and live there and while some may say it's no picnic in some respects, to others it's quite delightful.

I don't see the point of equating the natural rights of women with violence and overthrow of power, the conversation has moved beyond militancy and is widely accepted.

So while some view it as a very large Darwinian experiment others call it home. I don't see any reason that children should be encouraged to support civil unrest anywhere in the world.

The Israeli occupation and subsequent/consequent Palestinian civil uprisings/insurgency is unquestionably two things.

a. Completely the concern of the two residential populations.
b. None of our concern.

Except for Israel's strong influence over our political and some media outlets I find no compelling reason whatsoever that the Israeli politicians should not be compelled to ensure the domestic tranquility of their own country and sue for peace with their neighbors at the earliest convenience.

If it was something Israeli politicians felt was in their interests they would have done it 60 years ago, but it's very simply the case that the US won't fund military support if everything is peaceful and happy now will they.

So it's a good example where our influence and support begets the very violence we are paying to defend against.

An Israel defunded of US aid would be compelled by circumstance to work a deal with aggressive parties.

However, having said that, I believe that there is a right based on the foundation articles of Israel and the actions of the United Nations that must be secured.

HOWEVER, this does not include accepting the defacto disenfranchisement of Palestinian peoples.

FURTHERMORE, it does not sanction any form of violence or the implication of violence either overseas or abroad.

So as opposed to finding it politically astute or aware or snarky I find it offensive that some urbane child who has the benefit of domestic security and a society which to one degree or another promotes tolerance and does not support intolerance generally speaking, feels smug enough to enlist the attentions of a people who still suffer the daily violence and deprivations with which they are blissfully unable to TRULY identify.

I know that when presented with having to live with such violence a surprising number of people choose to NOT inflame or denigrate the privations suffered under these situations. Such common sense is all to uncommon these days.

I don't see anything wrong with this. And please, let understand the true meaning of the shirts and what fox says, "thats what they want to say". And nobody is forcing anyone to buy the shirts as much as the girl scouts are forcing neighbors to buy cookies.

No...she's just another idiot...

Hopefully sometime before it is too late people will wake up and realize that this sort of evil nonsense is slowly creeping into our society. Political correctness be damned, let's put a stop to it. Teach Arab Culture? fine. If Arab culture means suicide bombers, let them blow each other up/
